This listing is for an MKT-85 Military Field Kitchen Trailer. It was manufactured in 1988, however it was completely re-worked in 2011 as noted in the tag on the frame (picture 16). I purchased it from the government about 6 years ago. It is registered and plated in my name. NJ does not issue titles for light trailers, but I will provide a signed bill of sale, and give you the registration, which I will also sign.
Originally, these were designed... to cook and serve meals for ~300 soldiers per day. It has a 40" long steel skillet, places for diesel powered burners to cook with, stainless topped prep tables, fold out serving tables, and lots of storage. Unfortunately when I bought it from the government, they had already removed a good portion of the loose items for use in other trailers, so what you see is what you get.
As shown in the pictures, the trailer has two modes - towing mode and deployed mode. In towing mode, everything is folded and contained inside an outside cover. In deployed mode, the roof pops up about three feet, the sides fold down, and you put together an aluminum framework to support the vinyl/canvas roof and walls. I have nearly a full set of bug-screen, and an entire set of wet-weather or solid sides, as shown in the pictures. There are entrances at each end, and I have two sets of stairs with handrails. There are also jacks that fold out from under the trailer to stabilize the whole thing, creating an extremely solid adjustable setup.
Mechanically it seems to be in pretty great condition, although to be honest it has not moved in about four years. The tires still hold air, don't have any rot or cracks, and seem to have seen very little use - they still have the little nubs you see on brand new bicycle tires on them. There is no noticeable rust, everything is either aluminum or covered in serious mil-spec paint. It has an air-over-hydraulic brake system, which will work if you've got onboard air in your truck, but otherwise no trailer brakes. The trailer itself is light enough that I easily pull and stop it with a 2000 F150 though. The lights are all the military standard 24 volt, but I will include a set of magnetic 12V lights that use a standard 4-flat connector for you to use for transport. It has a pintle ring hitch, with a pretty high tongue. I flipped it to lower the connection height about four inches, but unless you've got a 4 or 6 inch lift or a Humvee, you're going to need to bring your own pintle hitch with a riser, because mine seems to have disappeared.
Obviously, this being a surplus unit, it is not in 100% perfect shape. Someone in the government cut an "X" hole in the roof panel and outside cover while it was in storage, so they could see what was inside without opening the thing up, which you can see in the center of picture 7. Mice also punched holes in the roof panels while it was stored over the winter, so there are a number of small holes in the roof canvas that needs to be patched. A few straps are broken, the cover has a small tear near the bottom on the left side, and the cover bungee system isn't fully intact either (it is still serviceable, though). In the rear of the hard roof, on the right, the top panel has pulled it's welds away from the frame (this happens to all of them), and needs to be riveted down. On the left, this repair has already been done. One support pole is slightly bent, but still works fine. None of these things are huge deals, but little nuisances that I want to mention in advance. There may be other small things wrong that I've not noticed.
I would strongly recommend you come see this in person if you are interested in it. I do not want to have someone purchase it, only to realize once they don't want it and back out. They are very rarely seen in good condition, especially ones that are registerable with no issues. If you make an offer though, I will consider it.
