Their modem designsincorporate additions of dichroic glass, gold leaf, air bubble patterns, andvarious shards and powders made by the artists in advance of blowing the finalpiece.Glassartist Mark Monson uses his experience in two and three dimensional art tocombine a broad range of styles and motifs in his work. His glass training began as an assistant toJames Nowak, with whom he spent three years before becoming a partner (laterowner and president) in the Glasshouse Studio.MarkMonson’s work has been featured in American Style Magazine and in variousSeattle and San Francisco publications. He glass is included in numerous publicand private collections and has been shown at top galleries, juried exhibitionsand museums throughout the United States, including the Bellevue Art Museum andthe Museum of Flight. Mark Monson diedin June 2013.Thisstunning flat sided glass paperweight art piece exhibits brilliant shades of blue accented with beautiful yellowgold orange red and green to merge together to create a lovely opalescent effect.ThisGlasshouse Studio paperweight is numbered WFS9006 (WFS stands for "weightflat sided") and has Monson's signature on the bottom.Measuresapprox. 6.75" H x 5" W x 2" D.Itis in very good pre-owned condition. Somesmall scratches on the bottom from shelf display. There a few very tiny chips/flea bites in onesmall area on the lower right near edge on one face next to a scratch/dulled patch. Hard to see except in last picture at anangle and it otherwise does not detract from the overall appearance of the artglass piece. May be possible to polishout but I did not attempt. Please seepictures for more details.
