April 14-16, 1...967 The Kaleidoscope, Los Angeles, CA This original weekend was supposed to be held at a building at 1228 Vine Street, but at the last second injunction from the city stopped the show. For this weekend the show was moved to the Embassy Ballroom in the Ambassador Hotel, at 3400 Wilshire, LA .The circular poster became more famous than the abortive venue.Skip Taylor (Kaleidoscope founder), the manager of Canned Heat, had been interested in running his own venue for some time. In early 1967, he attempted to book shows at the building on Vine Street. In 1968 with The Canned Heat becoming more popular and making more money he along with his partners were able to take over the Old Hullabaloo location on Sunset Blvd. and continued with The Kaleidoscope name on the building. I had great times and saw many memorable bands there. I will roll on place in sturdy tube/poster box to mail
