Not since Laurel and Hardy has there been a more revolutionary comedy pair than Ren and Stimpy. I remember the absolute weirdness of this show when it came out in the nineties during my adolescence. I often wonder if I would have appreciated it just as much if I had come to it later in my development. Ren was always disturbingly abusive to Stimpy, but I didn’t really pick up on the inappropriateness of that when I was a kid. I’m curious if the show could hav...e gotten away with that if it had been created in more recent years.
