19th C. Salesman Sample American Folk Art Mahogany & Cherry Chest of Drawers. A very nice salesman's sample, or miniature, chest of drawers from the nineteenth century is from a Connecticut estate. Made by the hands of a skilled craftsman, this small chest of drawers is a beautiful example of American folk art. The chest is mahogany with burl inlay on the sides and a fine overall patina that comes only with age. The drawer fronts are cherry wood. The drawers have chamfered bottoms ...and what I believe to be brass pull knobs. Beneath the first drawer is what could be a pull-out shelf or desk-top. The condition of this chest is very good. There is a crack about 3 inches in length to the side trim piece. Other than this, just a few nicks and scratches that show its wear and age. Please see photos. Size: 13" height; 13-1/4" width at top; 7-1/2" depth. If you are interested in layaway, we will be happy to help you with an easy payment plan.
