I am offering a collection of parts from a US Army Nike Hercules interceptor missile and its associated missile deployment / battery. The Nike Hercules was an air defense / surface-to-air interceptor missile, and was fielded with both conventional and nuclear warheads ; the missile also had a surface-to-surface capability.
This particular Nike Hercules missile was dismantled and scrapyarded overseas. This is Lot # 1 of 2. The parts in this lot are:...r>a forward nose cone section from the missile, excised by saw, consisting of a nose cap and a conical skin section (Nike forward assemblies, which include this portion of the nose section, are shown in photos 8&9). It measures 19" in height by 8" at the base. The interior of the nose cone includes (1) the air inlet piping used for the nuclear armed version, which would lead to a barometric switch that disabled the warhead at low altitudes (unless surface-to-surface was selected), and (2) the impact fusing arrangement for use with the conventional high explosive version, in which the crushing of the cone completed an electrical circuit that fired the warhead.a set of four toggle switches and one knob from the command / testing electronics controls from an operational Nike Hercules batteryPlease see my other auctions, for more lots of nuclear testing and nuclear weapons related material and memorabilia.
