Small Heavy Antique Coal Powered Brass & Iron Clothes Iron (Doorstop)
Hi! up for auction is a small heavy well made coal powered antique clothes iron. Unbranded, but must date to around 1880. Ideal item to use as a doorstop. Features: brass bottom, cast iron alloy body and frame, with what looks like a mahogany turned handle. Brass knobed sliding door on rear for insertion of hot coals for heating the element. No makers mark but has "No.3" embossed on brace and inside.... Size: 6 x 4 x 7" (15 x 10 x 16cm) ; 2.3kg ; approx
Condition: was very dirty when came to me, so, soaked, cleaned and sprayed with lacquer to prevent rust for some time. Surface rust, wear and tear, but overall in very good working condition.
