The Titanic was designed tobe a marvel of modern safety technology and her accommodations were the mostmodern and luxurious. At 883 feet long, 92 feet wide, she weighed in at 46, 328 tons. A 104 feet tall from keel to bridge, almost 35 feet of which was belowthe waterline. Capable of carrying over3500 people,... including passengers and crew.> Sadly, at 11:40 PM on April14, 1912, the greatest maritime disaster in history began. During the night of heroism, terror andtragedy , 705 lives were saved, 1502 lives were lost, and legends were born.
