Unidentified Old Hand Carved Tudor? Figure - Candlestick Holder - Repurposed?
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:3667253 | Product: Carved Figures |
Original/Repro: Original | Primary Material: Wood/ Woodenware |
DescriptionHere we have a rather mysterious carving. It has recently been used as a candlestick holder, but I am pretty sure that our little fellow was originally made for something else. There are a couple of large holes drilled in his legs ... a few small screw? holes in his back and also a hole at the back which may have had a wire. Also I can't quite figure out where he is from. I think most likely Black Forest area, but he has a sort of "Red Indian" / settler look to him. So maybe ...America?I do NOT think it would be advisable to use this as a candle holder without a bit of work. So I have placed this in the antique woodenware section. Although I have no idea how old this is, apart from he was certainly made some time ago.Condition wise please check the photographs. In case you miss them, there is a fixing to his hat brim and a small segment out of it. Happy bidding!Approximate DimensionsInches: 9.25 high x 2.5 across x 2.5 deepCentimeters: 24 high x 6.5 across x 6.5 deepThe last photograph in the series features a can (or cans), to give you a sense of scale. I would ask you to PLEASE pay promptly if you win as late, or even worse non-payments, cause me a lot of hassle and it is really not very fair on someone who is trying to offer the best service possible!!About Me And GoodbyeI guess that is it, apart from saying I ALWAYS do my VERY best to date and describe all the items I sell, BUT THEY ARE SOLD AS SEEN. So please read the complete description and look at ALL the photographs.
I have always been a bit of a collector, but recently I have begun to sell as well. It is just a hobby and helps to fund some of my eBay purchases. I do not (and never will) make any kind of living out of it! Blimey, I'd starve to death if I ever tried!
I also wish you happy bidding! If you have a chance please take a look at my eBay seller page and also at ALL the other wondrous treasures I have for sale!
