Fine Large Antique 19th Century Portrait Oil On Canvas Painting HAYTER Attributed to Sir George Hayter RA (1792-1871) A well-painted antique 19th Century oil on canvas painting which depicts a portrait of a John Townshend, 4th Marquess Townshend, bust-length wearing a naval uniform and is attributed to Sir George Hayter (1792-1871).
A very fine work with superb attention to detail which was probably painted circa. 1835-1840, judging by the age of the sitter. The would coincide with... when Hayter received Royal Patronage and was when he was at the peak of his artistic abilities.
Un-signed. The painting is framed. Offered with no-reserve.
Condition:The painting has restorations, craquelure, bitumen, minor paint losses, and some bloom, but is in a reasonable condition commensurate with its age. The frame is in good condition. Dimensions:Framed: W: 100 cm (39 1/4") x H: 120 cm (47 1/4") approx.
