QUIRKY SUPER RARE LARGE 1910's ART DECO HAND PAINTED CEILING LIGHT PENDANT SHAD...E
Well I have left this for my last listing out of ten for today because I wanted to make sure I give this listing all the concentration and magic it deserves
Never in all my very many years of being an antiques dealer have I ever come across something as rare and as majestic as this shade is
Never seen one on E bay in 5 years or anywhere else in all my life in fact
I really wanted to keep this but as you can see it really does not suit my lounge room where this is pictured and I have no where i can put this to its best advantage
I will still be very very sorry to see this go because of the extreme rarity of the shade
Its a very solid piece of Art Nouveau 1910 history with a very solid steel band at the top of the rim with original chains still attached
The hand painted shade has 3 exact same scenes that surround the whole shade of a farmhouse beside a stream and around the rim at the top 8 birds
It is in fact hand painted before the days when hand painted objects where sealed with a clear oven sealed coating
You can see this very clearly that this is very early hand painting technique
Its an absolute delight to look at and you cant miss this one when you enter the room .
Everybody I show this too wants it and they can have it as long as they buy of E bay as I really wanted to put this in my shop not having anything else quite so quirky and magnificent as this is in the shop
In 1910 however this was considered to be quite normal and not quirky at all and was designed for a high ceiling which I have not got
As you can see the colours are still very vibrant and there is still a gleam to the inside of the shade as well
When you turn the light on it really does come to life as well but it does show some signs of wear as in slight fading close up
But not from 6 ft away you don't notice this at all
The band is solid steel which could do with a good soak in a chrome bath solution or the like to get right into ribbed steel rim
Its a very large shade being 11.5" Deep x 12" Diameter
What can I say really that the item does not speak for itself other than that this fabulous rare piece of our long forgotten history is a one off - probably never to be seen again and that I hope it goes into a very caring home where architectural antiques of this nature will be appreaciated for yet another hundred years to come
In the hands of a high street antiques shop you would be looking to pay £700 ish or even more for this
I wont let it go for any less than listed because the value of this item increases very rapidly with every year that passes
Superb Antique Condition Really with very minor wear considering its 110 years old
Truly the most magnificent most sought after shade we have ever had in our entire history
As you can probably well imagine - I will be so very sorry to see this one go - I just love it -))
