For sale is a salt shaker made by Meissen in the very late 19th century or 20th century . Can't quite tell from the mark but since there is another crossed swords mark in the stalk of the "onion" we know it is not super old. Either way the piece has a nice and typical shape for a salt / pepper shaker and is decorated with their famous blue onion design all around. The lid appears to be sterling silver but is not marked. It has holes in the top in the shape of an S so it is meant f...or salt. I have a second piece that could be used as a pepper shaker with a different lid which I will list as well. The metal lid screws onto the porcelain which is easy to do for a quick refill. The piece is in perfect condition with the expected oxidation to the silver. The pot is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords underneath as well as a painter's mark 48 (hard to make out). The piece is 2.625 inches tall and 1.625 inches in diameter.
