This is the rarest item I’ve ever owned. It’s a gorgeous antique Chinese abacus with reverse painted glass and mirror.But that’s not all...When I bought this piece, I fell in love with its unique look and style. It was quite delicate, so I didn’t handle it very often...One day, while I was showing it to a friend, something unexpected happened...The mirrored side of the box came apart, much to my dismay.....at first...As I was carefully attempting to put the frame back together,... I noticed something was hidden behind the mirror...Underneath the backside of the mirror as well as several very old pieces of paper used for cushioning, was another reverse painting. It depicted the same woman from the viewable painting on the left, only this time, she was graphically depicted engaging in intercourse with her lover...I’ve owned this piece for quite some time and never knew about the hidden painting. And neither did the previous owner. It had been in her family for many years and no one knew about it...It’s possible that no one aside from the artist alone knew what was hidden inside and that it remained a secret until my accidental discovery.At any rate, it’s beautiful and extremely rare piece of craftsmanship and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!As I mentioned, it’s very delicate. There is a small hairline crack on the upper right hand corner of the viewable reverse painting. When I found the hidden painting, the upper left hand corner had a small break in it already. I carefully fixed that. One of the hinges came if the two small nails holding it in place, however this can be easily fixed.When handling this, be very gentle and be careful not to put pressure on the glass as it is very old and very thin.It measures 4 1/2” x 3” x 1 1/4”.Have a look at all of the photos for a detailed description of exactly what you’ll be receiving.Thank you very much for shopping with us!We hope you enjoy your purchase!!!
