I found this skull while swimming in Wyoming in 1968, in a place where the buffalo have not roamed in at least 150 years. Its age is unknown. It was buried in the mud and gravel under four feet of water in the middle of Clear Creek, about a mile below what is now the Kendrick Dam Fish Passage Project, near the Powder River and LX Bar Ranch. None of the animal's other bones could be found near it. Minerals appear to have formed on parts of the underside, likely due to immersion. It has ...spent the last 40 years in the attic. It has never been restored or altered in any way. It is 23 inches across and weighs approximately 18 pounds.
