Handsome mid-C19th Victorian Cast Brass Prince Albert Paper Weight Desk Tidy BoxWe date this box to the mid-19th century; say the 1850s. It is a cast box intended to hold small pieces to keep a desk tidy or vanity table tidy. It would have held nibs, staples, pins, etc. and doubled as a paperweight It is roughly oval in shape and the top is cast with a depiction of the increasingly popular Prince Albert. It is a portrait with a full facial view.It is very good antique condition with n...o damage; small stable casting crack to the lower box edge and a similar one to the lid. The top fits very snugly.
