A very rare watch in this country since they were only sold in the US. Made by the South Bend Watch Company in Indiana under the Studebaker name. As can be seen it has some wear to the gold plate on the back and the crystal is a bit yellowed with some scratches & marks. Personally I like the yellowing, it adds a real charm to the watch. Using the serial number (1162604) I have determined that the watch is most likely from 1926. The watch seems to be working well, wind it up a...nd away it goes. It seems to keep time reasonably accurately too though I cannot guarantee this, it was by no means a scientific measurement but the minutes at least seemed to stay accurate to my wristwatch.
I opened it up and as can be seen in the photos the movement looks clean and in good condition, I am no watch expert but it looks good to me. It will of course most likely need an oiling as I am sure this is long overdue. The case is marked gold filled railroad model(couldn't get a brilliant picture of this but it is just readable in the photo).
It is a very nicely made watch and an interesting piece of history, like I said you will be very hard pressed to find another here in the UK.
Please remember this is an almost 100 year old watch and does show signs of wear, please inspect the photos thoroughly before purchase to ensure you are happy. I have tried my best to describe it but as they say a picture is worth a thousand words.
