In the city where I live there is a subdivision of mid century homes made by the real estate developer Joseph Eichler. He wanted to create affordable, unique homes that would be available to people of all races & religions. He resigned from the National Association of Home Builders because they did not accept his policy of non-discrimination. Good for him! Using local architects in 9 communities in Northern CA & 3 communities in Southern CA, Eichler Homes built over 11, 000 hou...ses. There were various styles & this little dollhouse/ model I made is a close facsimile of one of those designs.Using matboard & cardboard I added a piece of plastic for the window. The dollhouse is all enclosed, but the roof lifts off to access the interior. There are 3 rooms & a door that leads to the imaginary bathroom. Inside I added shelves, artwork, non-opening doors, all attached with glue. Items are glued to shelves, but all other items are loose.Mona, the matriarch of her family, is waiting to picked up by some of her family members. They have planned an outing in celebration of her 75th birthday.I purchased some items from a few eBay sellers. Blue Box Bookcase, Fridge & Stove/Sink Unit from thethriftytreasures. Marx Bedside Table w/Lamp, Yellow Pot from elegancayoux. Mid Century style Ceramic Vase from thecrazymagpie. Cactus from call ahead. The Marx Imagination Framed Painting was a gift from a swell guy named Rick. A few other items he gave me appeared in a couple dollhouse I had on auction last week.One hinge on the fridge is broken, but the door opens & closes OK. I added a few items to the fridge, Bottle of milk(?) & Land O Lakes Butter were originally from the Susy Goose Friendly Folks Tin Supermarket Playset. I made the OJ. I cut the foliage off a plastic palm tree, trimmed it a bit & glued inside the yellow pot. I glued the cactus inside another pot.Scale is 1:24. Size of house is 4 & 3/8”H x 9 & 3/8”L x 3 & 1/2”D including the roof. For adult collectors only, small items pose choking hazard to infants & young children. Will combine shipping.
