A superb French Impressionist influenced portrait from the 19th Century- the sitter has real presence with excellent skin tones and fine attention to detail. Appears unsigned- ascribed verso "Nicolet" that is possibly the name of the sitter.
Age- 19th CenturySize- 25.5 by 21.25 inches approx (650 x 540 mm)Medium- Oils on canvas.Condition- The painting is very attractive and we would be happy top hang this as found. There is howwever a little varnish browning and some frame abrasion visible. Small scratch middle left, canvas hole lower left and lower middle. Frame- Unframed.Signature- Unsigned, ascribed verso.
