Gorgeous RARE Vintage 1959 Brunette Barbie Doll #850. She is the first #1 Ponytail Barbie / body type that was made, but has a #3 Ponytail Barbie HEAD. She is wearing the elegant 1959 #951 “Evening Splendor” set. Which includes the #911 “Golden Girl” gold brocade strapless dress and the matching gorgeous gold brocade coat and has 3/4 length fur trimmed sleeves. The coat has the white “Barbie TM By Mattel” clothing label / tag and is fully lined. The gold brocade fabric has ...held up very well and the fur trim is stunning with no visible wear noticed. She is wearing pearl stud earrings and comes with black strapless open toed high heeled shoes (one has a crack down the middle). She has rich red coral lips, rosy cheeks, blue eyes that are glancing right, delicate narrow nose, lightly curved brown eyebrows, with lavish dark chocolate brown eyeshadow and black eye liner & lashes. I think you’ll agree that her face is in great condition. Her deep brown hair is pulled into a high ponytail adorned with gold ties at the top and bottom to match her gown. She has tightly curled bangs that have remained fairly smooth. She still has curls at the bottom of her ponytail, but it is a bit frizzy. There are no visible missing hair plugs. Her fingernail & toenail polish is dark red. Her fingernails have no visible polish wear, but there is missing polish and / or wear on her toes. All her fingers and toes are fully intact. Her body does have light discoloration as shown in the photos. Her arms are nice and tight and hold position perfectly. Her legs are also tight and in great condition. Her foot is imprinted with Japan. Renowned antiques appraiser valued this #1 Barbie body w #3 Ponytail Barbie Head at $3, 500 for the Doll only, not including her outfit. Dr Lori also informed me that one #1 Barbie body w #3 head sold for $5, 000 last year.
I am selling her with her beautiful outfit for my Grandad. She only had one owner my Grandmother, Mumsie and was kept sealed in her box inside of a glass display case.
