Today we list at NO RESERVE Auctions this Rare and fine antique 19th century german violin. Presumably early 1800s by David Christian Hopf jun. (1776-1830), stamped on the upper back and inside the body. There's also a repair label from the Bitfer, gegenbaumeister... Leipzig workshop dated 19... Nicely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling. This beautiful violin shows one professional executed repair in the back side , but no open cracks or open seams, and surely some marks in it´s old amber varnish due to its age. The table is finely grained spruce and the 2-piece back, as well as ribs and neck, is nicely flamed maple. The violin has been completely checked by our luthier and by our violin player on playability. The oil varnish, of a rich amber color on a golden ground, has crackled with time and gives the instrument an extraordinary patina.
Dear Buyer, The instrument is, however, offered in a fully restored condition and has been fully and professionally setup by the our workshops. The violin have one prof. repaired crack ( back and inside the violin - see picture). Any repairs have either been conducted by ourselves or fully inspected and the quality of the repair verified by our workshop. No further repairs are required and is ready to play.
