Antique High Victorian period circa 1870 Superb and quite Stunning Large Pigeon Blood Ruby and Amethyst set crescent moon pendant that doubles as a brooch via way of artisan made removable back mount to the pendant with safety chain intact, a fantastic superbly made piece of fine jewellery the pendant measures 3.4 cm in width and 3 cm in length and features a total of nine individual eight point cut pigeon blood rubies each spaced with an eight point cut Amethyst to a to...tal of 17 individual stones, the largest ruby at the centre apex measures 0.5 pts (5mm in diameter) and each of the stones graduates in tandem around the crescent, each stone is snuggly set within a flush fit four claw setting to the pendant proper, the accompanying optional mounting back plate to the pendant is precision made and features a miniature thumb screw with lug and jump ring intact with gold safety chain as well as hinged gold pin and clasp in perfect working order, simply unscrew the thumb screw to release or secure the back plate so as to wear as desired, there are roughly 3.1cts of pigeon blood rubies and roughly 2.7cts of Amethysts, the item is unmarked but has been professionally tested to at least 15ct gold.weight : 9.2 grams
