Vintage Seiko Ship's Wall Clock - Genuine Copper LeafOriginal steel Seiko ship's clocks made in Japan in the 1970’s. These were originally slave clocks used in many of the rooms on board cargo ships and super tankers, they were all connected to the the master clock in the captain’s cabin so that he could change the time of every clock on board as the boat entered a new time zone.
We’ve decided to do a very limited edition run of these great clocks and ...these have been hand finished in a beautiful genuine copper leaf which has a lovely texture and slightly distressed feel to it’s surface. The clock is then sealed with a clear acrylic coating to protect the surface from tarnishing. These clocks have a lovely vintage feel and would look fantastic in all sorts of domestic and commercial environments. For fans of the Oscar winning musical La La Land, look out for this clock on the wall of Ryan Gosling's character's apartment!
The mechanism would have originally run off the ship’s electrical system, we have replaced this with a reliable silent sweep quartz battery version. The back of the clock is made from painted black steel edged in a thick rubber and incorporates a large hole that can be used for hanging purposes.
