An early 19th Century Regency anglo Indian sewing box measuring 8 inches long by 6 inches wide and 3 inches high. The box carcass is made from either sandalwood or Sadeli and has been veneered in a green coloured horn. Applied to the horn are a series of fretwork panels and mounts in a natural material which have been carved and stained. The box retains all 4 carved lions paw feet and a red velvet underbelly. The lid is loose but the hinges are still attached to the base section. There... are compartments, 2 of which have carved lids (one is stuck within its recess) and nice original pin cushions. The box is in need of some serious restoration as some fretwork and mounts are missing, some horn veneer has lifted and chipped in places. The box is dry and dusty but found in original unrestored condition. Ideal for somebody who wants this a project as i am sure of restored properly, this would look fantastic.
