Up for your consideration is a gorgeous antique glass hinged jewelry trinket box/casket in an outstanding 1800s metal basket. What an unusual, fabulous find. The cover of the box is painted in a Mary Gregory style with a child picking a flower and the metal basket is intricately adorned.
The interior is padded and satin lined. There is a safety chain that holds the lid open when the box is opened.
The whi...te metal basket has a dragonfly on one side and a grasshopper on the other. Leaves and a flower adorn the handle. The base is very intricately decorated.
The base of the glass box appears to have broken into three pieces at one point and it was glued back together again. The glass lid portion has no issues.
The satin is a bit dirty. There is some wear to the metal surface on the interior of the box, which is the only place where it appears a gold plating was applied.
The number 319 is stamped on the upper surface of the metal basket. The underside of the metal basket reads “Middletown Plate Co., Quadruple Plate, 46, Hard White Metal.” The company did business under that name and with that stamping between 1864 and 1899.
The glass box is sturdy. It measures about 4 1/16” square by 3 3/8” high. In total, the metal basket is 9 1/2” high.

INSURANCE Insurance is included in the shipping charge only when I ship by Priority Mail (maximum automatic insurance is $50) or I explicitly say in the listing that insurance is included for full value of item. Ebay does not allow sellers to offer "optional or required insurance." (I don't know why.)
CUSTOMS/DUTY/THIEVES/POSTAL SERVICES: The buyer is responsible for being familiar with his or her country's customs/duty requirements and is responsible for paying all such customs/duty when asked to do so by a customs authority or eBay's Global Shipping Service. I have no control over mailbox thieves or postal services that mess up by misdelivering the package. Therefore, please don't hold me responsible for such.
