This is an adorable small-sized Steiff Margaret Woodbury Strong Museum Teddy Bear, #0155/26, a Limited Edition Steiff Bear issued in 1982 when the Maragaret Strong Museum opened. This bear is in exceptional pristine condition as is the tag and booklet. From the paper tag attached to his chest, "This superbly crafted Teddy Bear... is a faithful replica of an original model made in 1904 by the firm of Margarete Steiff GmbH of West Germany."
Standing, this Original Teddy is 10 inches (25 cm) tall and sitting only 7" (17 cm). His genuine light tan colored Mohair is in superb condition and his heads, arms, and legs are jointed and move fine. He has black glass eyes, and embroidered black stitched nose and mouth, and light tan felt paws. Each paw has four rows of embroidered claws.
He has the Steiff button-in-ear brass metal button and yellow cloth tag with red writing which has the following: "STEIFF KNOPF IM OHR 0155/26" and on the back it says "Covering 50% wool 50% cotton Made in Western-Germany". A red and off-white paper booklet is attached to his chest which says: "THE MARGARET WOODBURY STRONG MUSEUM" and "In 1902/1903, Richard Steiff, the nephew of Margarete Steiff, designed and created the world's first Teddy Bear."
This Margaret Strong Teddy bear shows no wear at all. He has never been played with or displayed. He comes from a smoke free, pet free environment.
