VINTAGE 1974, SIGNED "HJ" HERFF JONES BRAND, MADE IN USA,
10K GOLD WITH POSSIBLE SYNTHETIC SAPPHIRE CABOCHON STONE,
MEN'S SCHOOL CLASS RING FROM
GROSSMONT COLLEGE, IN EL CAJON, CALIFORNIA USA
IT IS ENGRAVED ON THE INSIDE WITH THE INITIALS "JWW"
IT MEASURES A US SIZE 11.5 OR 11-1/2, TOP MEASURES 3/4" WIDE,
STONE MEASURES 7/16" x 5/16",
TOTAL WEIGHT OF 16.7 GRAMS
Very nice, true vintage and original period, previously worn and used, and since long stor...ed away condition. As stated above, t is engraved on the inside with the initials JWW, otherwise, it shows light wear from use and storage, including minor marks, scratches, very minor scratches over the stone, and a light level of original patina over the surface due to aging. It shines nice as it is, has great color to the stone, with no major issues at all.
Really nice detail to this ring that features on one side various symbols of the school, the state of California, the school mascot of a Griffin and reads GRIFFINS, with AS and a scale, which I believe would be for an Associate of Science degree. Opposite side has the image of a trojan, reads CALIFORNIA GROSSMONT, and 74, the year of graduation for the original owner. Top reads GROSSMONT COLLEGE, and has what I believe to be the original owner's birth stone, a cabochon synthetic sapphire.
It is clearly marked on the inside COPYRIGHT HJ 10K, with HJ representing Herff Jones, listed and historical USA maker of school and fraternal jewelry, known for their class rings. We measured this ring with a professional ring mandrel and it comes out to be a US Size 11.5 or 11-1/2.
This is a very nice, very collectible and wearable ring for those that once attended this school, you graduated this year, you're a faculty member or teacher, you collect history and memorabilia from this school, or unique jewelry made by Herff Jones! A wonderful ring in person!
