This vintageredware pitcher is approx.. 10 ½” high x 5” deep x 4 ½” wide. The form depicts a standing horse with amouth spout and outstretched front legs. There is a twisted braid handle and hand painted floral designs on amajolica glaze. The piece is marked witha stylized fish on the bottom. There isa glaze flake to the right ear tip and craquelure to the white glaze. Otherwise, it is in good vintagecondition.Please view and zoom al...l 11 photos. Notes: Kourtzis Art Potterywas founded by Panagiotis Kourtzis on the island of Lesvos, Greece around1820. For nearly 200 years the familybusiness has been owned by the Kourtzis family and has developed during the 20thcentury into a famous workshop. Theirceramics have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions in Greece and abroad aswell as in many museums and private collections. This piece is attributed to Nick Kourtzis(1907-1998).
