A rare and interesting novelty solid silver letter opener. It is hallmarked with Maltese marks including the 875 silver standard mark. It has been superbly designed in the form of an oar with a small inscription to the end relating to a 1959 regatta. These were usually presented to rowers in the Royal Navy so there could be a military connection. It is in superb condition being free from dingssplits and repairs. It measures 6.25 inches (16.3cms) long and weighs 20 grams. An interesting... example.
