Trantow LA 284-A. This branch of the Bowie Lumber Company was in operation from the 1890s until about 1914. Operations here consisted of a store, boarding house, and a machine shop which worked on the engines for the logging railroad.
Coteau Folse was a small village or lumber camp located on what is now Louisiana Highway 307 a few miles south of Kraemer. It never had a post office. Whether there was any connection with Camp Folse or Coteau is not known.... "Coteau" is French for "highland" and Folse is for Antoine Folse, a pioneer family. This community was also known as "Midland" and "Coteau a Dummy, " the latter from the dummy engines used on the company's logging railroad to bring timber to the sawmill at nearby Bowie.
