1859 Marshall House Civil War Era Token, Virginia Cent Size High Grade: Ancients and Tokens and medals are not my forte ( i have one of each and they are up this... week). This merchant was located in Alexandria Virginia and certainly this token would have been used during war. I think this may be referenced as a Miller Rulau #103 which indicates a pretty rare specimen of less than 350 minted. The last "9" in the date is weak. There appears to be a very small planchet clip at 3:00 along with minor rim lamination in the 12:00 area. This may have been common for private mints in those days. Some hints of red can still be found. I think it is a AU58-MS60 but you grade.
