"La fille du regiment" by Gaetano Donizetti (1797 - 1848) and starring Joan Sutherland, Luciano Pavarotti, Spiro Malas and Monica Sinclair. Cover of libretto is signed by Luciano Pavarotti and dated 1969 using a black sharpie pen. 1/2 inch tear on upper back cover, otherwise in Excellent Condition. Luciano Pavarotti (1935 - 2007) Italian operatic tenor who became one of the most acclaimed and loved tenors of all time. His first appearance as Tonio in "La fille du regiment" took pl...ace at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, on June 2, 1966. It was his performances of this role that would earn him the title of "King of the High C's."
