VINTAGE ROLEX AIR KING REF. 5500 W/ ORIGINAL GUARANTEE & ROLEX SERVICE PAPERWORKA vintage Rolex Air King ref. 5500 with its original punched guarantee showing sale in Hong Kong in 1972, along with extensive Rolex service paperwork.There are 3 Rolex service guarantees dated 1986, 1994 and 2000 respectively.
Service guarantee dated 1986 shows the fitting of a new steel 78350 bracelet (that still remains on the watch).Original silver dial signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air King Precision.Stee...l Oyster case with Oyster crown, numbered between lugs with ref. 5500 and serial number 2975104 matching paperwork.Rolex Oyster bracelet fitted by Rolex during service, numbered J11/78350/19/557.Automatic movement, signed Montres Rolex S.A.A rare opportunity to buy a vintage Rolex with extensive paperwork.- - -The watch is in very honest condition. This is how it was bought from the previous owner and the watch has plenty of dirt which I haven't cleaned off.The original dial has quite an even patina changing colour from its original silver, along with some age-related marks & wear as expected.
A couple of the lume plots have come loose and are floating in the watch.The automatic movement is running - timekeeping cannot be guaranteed.The case has scratches and signs of wear and the plexiglass is heavily scratched and crazed. Serial and reference are well visible.The bracelet is quite heavily scratched from wear and has light stretch from use. It also has a lot of dirt in it especially the clasp. It is missing its final link at one end where it attaches to the clasp (see photo).
The bracelet still functions fine anyhow. Please read this information carefully and ensure you are satisfied with the condition of this watch before bidding.
