Baroque Portrait- Holy Mother & Child Appear in A Vision
18th Century
An 18th Century Baroque oil painting possibly of French or Italian origin. The work depicts a king wearing his crown receiving a vison of the Holy Mother & Child. A very touching allegorical work from a private collection.
Provenance- Private collection, Chartres.Age- 18th CenturySize- 15.75 by 12.5 inches approx (400 x 320 mm) Medium- Oils on canvas, re-lined.
Frame- Unframed. Condition- Generally dark and dirty with some scuffs, scratches and thinner paint areas in places. A few small old repairs as would be expected with a piece of this age especially a patch to the lower right hand corner. Light craqueleur, some frame abrasion.
Signature- Unsigned.
