VERY GOOD, ANTIQUE ENGLISH GENTLEMAN'S STERLING SILVER HALF HUNTER POCKET WATCH, c1892 A very good, antique, Victorian gentleman's sterling silver cased, Half Hunter Pocket Watch dating from c1892.
This watch is a good example, in nice condition and in good working order.
The English made, sterling silver case is in good condition, all covers opening and closing tightly as they should, although the spring has weakened s...lightly on the front cover therefore you have to assist manually to open. It has full English hallmarks for sterling silver. The case maker's mark, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Birmingham town mark and the date letter "R" for 1892/93. Unusually, the outer rear cover has a different date letter ("f" for 1901/02), however all three covers are stamped with the serial number 0261 to match the movement. The white enamel dial is in very good condition. It has the hours in Roman numerals and a sub-seconds dial at six o'clock.
The good quality English lever, 3/4 plate movement is in excellent working order. It is stem wind and pin set. It has the serial number 0261 to match the case.
The watch measures 52mm in diameter (across the case, excluding the winding crown).
Overall, this is a nice example, it would make a lovely addition to any collection.
