Vintage Chinese Sang De Boeuf Ox Blood Red Porcelain VaseWe are pleased to offer for your consideration this vintage Chinese Sang De Boeuf ox blood red porcelain vase. The vase has a handsome baluster shape and the ox blood red color suits it very well. The ox blood red glaze color is very evenly distributed throughout the body of the vase and has even flowed into the interior a bit. There are a few scratches near the foot rim that was probably caused from... grinding the excessive glaze off the foot rim to smooth and even it out when it was removed from the kiln where it was made in China. There is a blue, under the glaze, four character reign mark on the underside that we think reads "Qianlong", but we know it is apocryphal and it is doubtful from this period. Please note: This is NOT an antique vase. It was purchased by us in the 1970's as a decorative piece. We have had it for at least 40 years or more. The vase was purchased 'new' during our visits to old Chinatown in San Francisco back in the late 1970's. However, by all other aspects, this piece would make a wonderful decorative example for your cabinet. Contact seller if you have any questions or if you require additional photographs for inspection.Measurements: The vase stands approximately 6 1/2 inches in height and is approximately 3 inches at its widest. The top rim measures 2 1/4 inches in diameter and the foot rim is approximately 2 3/8 inches in diameter. It would require a wood stand with an opening of at least 2 1/2 inches for proper fitting (Not Provided). The vase weighs approximately 12 oz. Measurements are all approximate, but close.Condition: We carefully examined this item. The foot rim has been ground to remove excessive red glaze that ran off the vase during the firing in the kiln. This resulted in some scratches occurring near and around the base. This type of ware will exhibit minor scratches due to this grinding as well as minute nicks of the glaze near the foot. Overall the vase is in great shape and has NO Chips, Cracks, Repairs or Restorations. The vase has been used and will show some signs wear from previous use. We do report any abuse.
