Magnificent 18k Solid Gold Vacheron & Constantine Veuve Pocket Watch

I was surprised to see another one of these listed on eBay today, as they are increasingly uncommon! This timepiece heralds from the rare period in Vacheron & Constantin history when for five years the business was ran by Laure Vacheron-Pernessin, the widow (veuve) of César Vacheron and Catherine-Etienne Vacheron, the widow of Jacques Barthelemy Vacheron. It was incredibly uncommon for a women to run such a business in that era. Today, they are widely thought to have overseen the ...production of the brands greatest quality timepieces. This watch is a testimony to this excellence.
A very fine and good quality swiss watch from the 1870's made by the manufacturer commonly named Vacheron & Constantin with some problems.
The solid 18k full hunter case is signed Vacheron & Constantin, Geneva, No 133586, Vve C. Vacheron & Co. Successors. The ‘veuve’ inscription is a rarity. The case is solid (not a flimsy thin case as some 18k cases can be). There is intricate detailing to the exterior.
The movement is believed to be 18 jewels and is nice and clean, albeit not running.
The accompanying box is in good condition for it’s age and the button and clasp work well.

This piece oozes quality and would be a key piece in any collection. It is my favourite piece and I have been meaning to get it fixed for a long time!
