Offered is anoverall excellent condition, just serviced, gorgeous 1898 Elgin, 15 Jewel, 18s, Model 3, Pocket Watch in Hunting Case configuration. It has a lever setting. The balance wheel moves along nicely and smoothly! Super nice original gilt frosting remains on the back plates. It ismounted in a nice solid Philadelphia Watch Case Company SILVERODE nickel-silver watch case with normalwear consistent with age which was only cleaned by hand... to leave the nice agedpatina and surface character. Amazingly, little wear was found onthe parts. In fact, the parts look like they were made yesterday! Thesewatches were made in the U.S. by hand by skilled craftsmen during a sadlyvery long gone era and are truly works of art! The movement was completely disassembled, allparts inspected which are excellent, cleaned, oiled, reassembled, and tested. The dial, or face, has several very light hairlines that are only visible with a magnifying glass and not noticeable under the glass cover. The original vintage crystal, or glass, shows minor surface scratches. However, pleasekeep in mind that these watches are well over 100 years old and should behandled with care. They are definitely not shock proof! Also, a change of location mayrequire a slight adjustment of the regulator. But, this is all just part of the nostalgia of owning a mechanical watch.
