This is a gorgeous, very large, 19th century Flow Blue Willow advertising “Pure Milk” pail manufactured by Doulton for Dairy Outfit Co Ltd at Kings Cross, London. Imagine seeing this extraordinary piece in the display window of a dairy or grocer’s shop a century ago, advertising fresh pure milk. Doulton produced this one with the winning combination of the widely collected Blue Willow pattern and their signature Flow Blue effect. The handles are strong and ornate, and there is a ...beautifully subtle embossed banding around the body (upside down pic shows it best) Not too many of these have survived because they were big, heavy, and porcelain. This is in great condition with really only expected shelf wear on the bottom. There is a small chip kind of buried in the shelf wear, and one handle has a line on it but it is glazed so was done in firing. There does not appear to be any other chips, cracks or even crazing that we could find. Please examine photos closely and message us with questions.
