Fine old HOPF violin around late 1800s.Please listen to the video/soundfile & scroll down to see all detailed XXL photos below as part of the description!The instrument has been carefully worked over by our luthiers and checked by our violin player on playability.Nicely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling. No open cracks or open seams, and onl...y minor marks in its old amber varnish. The table is finely grained spruce and the back, as well as ribs and neck, is maple. In our workshop it received new ebony pegs, an elder ebony tailpiece and chinrest, a new bridge, new soundpost and new strings.These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin!

Measures aprox.: total 59 cm / 23.2", body 35, 3 cm / 13.9", vibrating chord length 32, 5 cm / 12.8", weight 435 gr / ~15.3 oz. For further questions please feel free to ask, or/and - as we sell a lot of different violins - we would recommend to do a bit of internet research (Google / Wikipedia etc.) about makers, models and prices.
