Up for auction is this rare vintage F.E. Thomas Dirigo Bamboo Fly Rod.
It is marked DIRIGO F.E. THOMAS BANGOR ME.
There is a 9 stamped on the butt of the handle.
Most of the rod looks to be in great shape. But there is a chunk chipped off of the cork handle. Visible in picture.
The total length of this rod when assembled is 8 ft 1 1/4 inches.
The bottom section is 34 3/8"
The middle section is 33 1/4"
And the top section is 31 1/8" when disassembled.
The tip ...of the rod looks newer to me like if the very tip / eye was professionally replaced but I am not sure. I have very little knowledge of old fly rods. I tried to show the rod as best as I could in my photos which are a big part of my description!
