Original Description:
I am by no means an expert on this kind of thing. If you're looking you likely know more than I do so please bear with me. I believe it is a Napier style siphon coffee maker. It measures approx. 12" wide by 14" high by 8" deep and weighs almost 5 pounds. The bottom is marked 697 Edward & Sons Glasgow. I don't know the date of manufacture but I believe it is from the turn of the 20th century. The feet of the samovar are nicely detailed figural dolphins and there are lovely design fe...atures throughout. It is in very nice condition with no noticeable loss of plating. I don't know what it would take to get it to work, but I think it's a distinct possibility. The 2 knobs on the screw top look to be bone or possibly ivory. The knob on the spout looks to have been replaced with a wooden ball. To keep the spout in place and allow it to turn properly I have added a small rubber gasket to the bottom of the mechanism which seems to work. The burner is still in tact. It has a screen inside that has deteriorated a small amount. It's a really great looking piece and a fantastic example of original Steampunk. In order to keep shipping costs down I have disassembled it so it will fit into a smaller box (see last photo). It goes back together easily.
I have selected both USPS and FedEx as shipping options. Depending on where the package is going, one may be significantly less expensive. I tell ya...prices these days! I will always go with the more reasonable, cheaper and safer route. The winning bidder should wait for my invoice in order to reflect the proper shipping cost instead of going with the eBay generated one which is often not the better choice.
For any international sales I use the Global Shipping Program. I understand it is not as economical as person to person shipping. However, it covers my, ahem..."tail" in the event of any misfortune once it leaves the states (however unlikely). It is a "peace of mind tax" that I'm sure costs me just as much as it does the buyer.
To ensure a higher exposure time for my items, my policy is to always allow each auction to finish its entire initial 7-day course...without a winning bidder...before I entertain any offers. You needn't waste your time asking for a "Buy it Now" price in the first week because I will only copy and paste this paragraph in response, because I will have to assume it was not read in the first place. Please don't think I'm being rude, I'm just looking out for you. Because your time is valuable!
All of my sales are guaranteed. I try to give the best representation through my photos and descriptions of every item I sell. I'm sure I miss things and/or make mistakes from time to time (because my ex-wife used to remind me on a regular basis.) If there is any reasonable problem with a purchase please contact me as soon as possible. If it was truly misrepresented or damaged I have no problem making it right, because I am a reasonable person. It is my personal opinion that "I just don't like it" is not necessarily a "reasonable" problem, but I realize that eBay has a tendency to be the final judge on these matters. Nonetheless, I pride myself in a 100% positive rating. I would prefer that a buyer not resort to instant negative feedback before any matter is discussed. I have faith we can come to a reasonable solution!
While we're on it, I also take pride in my economical yet safe packaging. As much as you want to receive your item unbroken, believe me when I say that goes double for me. Please take photos of any package that has visible damage BEFORE opening. If an item arrives damaged in the mail, please let me know ASAP. It is entirely possible I will have used shipping insurance and that the misfortune will be covered monetarily. I do not know how the insurance is managed with the Global Shipping Program. That's up to them.  Best of luck to you!
