An original Daum France Pate de Verre diving fish glass sculpture. Daum is a very well known producer of art glass and their history dates back to 1878 when it was established by Jean Daum. Pate de verre is the process of fusing crushed glass paste inside a mold. It is a very artistic technique that date backs to the Egyptians. Daum is a highly collectible and desirable maker of art glass.This diving fish is made of a beautiful ocean blue color with accents of green, yellow and o...range and multi color mottling. The fins are translucent. The scales are softly etched into the surface. The name Daum France is etched onto the bottom of one fin. The fish measures about 7" curved from the base to the top tail fin and 4" wide measured from the tip of each fin.In excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, or any damage whatsoever - of course, the nature of pâte de verre are the bubbles, rough sculpted edges, etc., and so if this is not of your taste, perhaps pâte de verre is not a suitable sort of crystal for you to collect.
