TIFFANY STERLING TEAPOT & STAND 1889 MOORISH DESIGN
A very fine 1889 Tiffany sterling silver hand decorated tea kettle on its originalmatching stand, with built in burner (rare Tiffany design).
In the Moorish taste.
Gently compressed circular form withfinger petal fluting and hand carved shell and floral center band, following by raised floral and angled ruffled border.Dome cover with petal framed bud finial abo...ve Japanese inspired chrysanthemum surround and floral.
Flower engraved handle rising from satin surface shell and twin vine terminal.
Atop the original, hallmarked stand in which the the center ring section is the fluid reservoir, rather than a separate burner.The burner opening retains the original Japanese chrysanthemum filler cap.The second raised finial controls the amount of heat, by opening or closing the reservoir cover.This is a very, very rare design, possibly commissioned by the owner.
This Tiffany sterling Moorish kettle on stand just under 10 inches andthe complete sets weighs 41 standard ounces.
In very fine condition.Teapot interior clean as if little used.Rich sterling patina, retains original detail.Retains both the filler cap and burner control finial.
