Offered in this listing; one mid century emerald green vase on a controlled bubble paperweight base by Erickson. This Vintage vase stands 8" and has a rich dark emerald color. some small contact scuff on the base. Excellent condition, nice addition for your collection.A brief history of the artist from "Erickson Freehand Glass" by Ramona and Franklin Knower; Carl Erickson immigrated to the U.S. in 1906 from Reijmyre, Sweden where his grandfather was a... master glass blower. At age 14 , with his father's guidance, he started his own glass blowing career at the Pairpoint Manufacturing Co. in New Bedford, MA. After 20 years with Pairpoint he went to work for Libbey Glass Co. in Toledo Oh. After 4 years with Libbey, he worked a short stint in Hollywood making chandeliers for Greta Garbo's "Camille" before going on to work for Blenko Glass Co. in Milton WV. where he served as a designer and shop foreman, training apprentices the craft.In 1943 Carl and his brother Stephen bought a defunct glass factory in Bremen, OH where the Erickson Glass Works was formed and blew glass until 1960 before closing all operations in 1961. During that period they designed and produced a wide variety of glass. Carl's work with controlled bubbles and his patented "flame" process would turn out to be his trademarks but that was certainly not the limit of his creative talent.
