Scottish, maker uncertain - probably Scotia
Description: Large millefiori paperweight from one of the Scottish makers. The millefiori canes are set on a cushion of white latticino ('tumbled muslin'). Flat polished base, no markings or signature cane. This design was first made by Paul Ysart, and continued by Caithn...ess Glass; by William Manson both at Scotia and on his own; and by Peter Holmes. The flat base and absence of CG or other signature cane suggests to me it is a Scotia paperweight made around 1980 by William Manson. There are a couple of specks of dirt on top of the muslin cushion. This design appears in the Scotia brochure as No 27 Satin Chain; I have included a scan of the relevant brochure page in the images - please feel free to download it whether you bid or not. Size: diameter 2 7/8 inch / 73 mm; height 2 3/8 inch / 60 mm. Condition: very good; no chips, bruises; there are a few very tiny flea bites in the edge of the base, easier felt than seen . Please remember this is not a brand new item - you may be able to find minuscule marks elsewhere if you search using a magnifying glass. Combined shipping: I will always combine shipping to give you the best price available. Postal services and charges (Please remember that Postal Services can get slower as Christmas approaches...)
I aim to charge you the actual cost to me for postage and packing, and to provide a 5 star service throughout the transaction. I usually post items on the same or next working day following receipt of payment. You can collect the item at no extra cost if you wish, but if you want it posted then please remember that the postage and packing costs are more than the postage stamp alone: I have to buy boxes, loose fill, packing tape, et cetera, on a regular basis, and transport the items to the nearest post office, so I add a modest amount to cover all appropriate costs. Shipping costs for this item to your location Due to claims for 'Item not received', I am no longer offering the International Standard shipping option. Returns The UK Distance Selling Regulations apply to most Buy it Now purchases (but they do not cover conventional auctions). Please contact me first if you wish to return an item. Please note:The buyer must pay for the return postage (unless I am at fault and I have agreed in advance to refund the postage), and may wish to insure against loss and/or damage. The item must be received by me in the same condition that it was sent - otherwise there will be a charge for any damage and/or depreciation. There is no legal requirement for me to accept returns on conventional auctions unless the item is materially different from the description - not, for example, if the buyer just changes their mind in due course. Any agreement by me to accept such a return would be a courtesy rather than a legal requirement.
