Vintage Universal Geneve Polerouter, Broad Arrow Hands - - NEEDS SERVICE
Item History & Price
Over 13-14 years I've retrieved this from storage, wound and worn it for a day at a time. But two weeks ago I pulled it out again--and the movement wouldn't keep going. Start and stop.I took it in to my Minneapolis watch service pro for an initial look at what was wrong. He ...did a preliminary examination. To start with, one spring is missing as a bumper (pic 11), which is why the watch gives a solid clunk when you shake to wind. And the mainspring doesn't seem to build tension when you start to wind it. There may be other pieces to replace when I get it open, and I'd like to touch up that second hand even if you want to leave crown replacement alone. I'd estimate we're looking at about $200 to get this Polerouter serviced and running.I still wasn't sure I wanted to sell rather than service... but this last week made me admit that it's not going to ever see much wrist-time from me. So here it is.Otherwise, you can see pretty well in the pics the condition of the case and dial face. I'm not sure if the bezel finish is gold-plating; I can find no markings on the case itself. The Hadley-Roma leather band is in good shape. The watch is just over 34mm, about 37mm with the crown. As you consider bidding, let me know if you'd like more pix of the condition. On May-25-19 at 14:11:06 PDT, seller added the following information:ADDITIONAL NOTE: One bidder suggested I add a few pics taken in natural light. Since I can't do it here in the listing, here they are for your viewing on one of my Google drives: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1qvNa4Iim39l8Gnqk6fMRnSq8a4wDSAwG?usp=sharing
I hope this helps you examine the Polerouter from a new lighting perspective, and helps you in your bidding. On May-26-19 at 06:41:02 PDT, seller added the following information:AND YET ANOTHER NOTE: Two people asked me what the numbers were on the caseback. First time I didn't see them and said none. Second time prompted me to look closer--and there they were, rather faintly stamped. The caseback numbers are: S 20214-13 1775487
Also noticed for the first time, is some tiny etching on the inside of the caseback. Does not look like the traditional servicing marks, since it looks to be only composed of letters like the name "Miller". Too hard for me to see completely though w/o more magnification than I have.
Two new pics of both the caseback numbers and the inside etchings are at the Google drive link above.
