Johnson Century 100-A fishing reel.(Manufacture date, 1956 only)I disassembled the reel, cleaned, then applied oil and grease as specified in the Johnson schematic for this reel, using Penn reel oil and grease. I reassembled the reel and installed fresh 6 lb. clear blue fluorescent fishing line. All functions work properly. I would suggest you inspect the oiling and grease for yourself and apply per your own preference.I checked the drag in basic terms. You shou...ld set it for your own fishing conditions and preferences. This model can be set up for either right hand or left-hand retrieve. The clicker side plate button and wire are intact. On many of these reels that wire is broken or the wire and button are missing. The front cover has some battles scars. The reel overall is in good shape for its age. Please review all of the pictures, as they are the best indication of the reel’s cosmetic condition. Any cosmetic defects do not interfere with the operation of the reel.I tried to make sure all views of the reel are represented. Working on the reels gives me something to do.A lot of the reels I buy have been neglected or forgotten. My goal is to repair them and keep them out of a landfill. If you buy one, take your kid or grandkid out fishing then that is the ultimate.I completely dis-assemble the reels, inspect for damage and make sure the parts when I’m done are correct for that specific reel. I make sure all of the reels work correctly. That being to the manufacturer’s original intent.Johnson reels were continually changed, improved over the years. The later versions of a reel work the smoothest, in my view. I don’t modify any reels, I just make sure the correct parts are installed, the reels are oiled and greased before I list them on eBay.I take the pictures under LED lights. That makes for a well-lit location to take the pictures. I want accurate pictures that lets you know exactly what you are bidding on. I take the same 6 pictures on each reel. If you would like additional pictures, please let me know.
