I’ve added a couple of more photo images to the listing, it was simply artificial light reflections causing the carving to appear to have paint and even gilt finish. It is in fact brown French Polish type finish and has had no restoration. The head, I’ve discovered pivots slightly on its top nail, perhaps the lower one has corroded away. It had crossed my mind that it might be a hidden compartment, but I can not see one without lifting the face off, which I won’t attempt. The end... of the hair is chipped/missing. Antique Hand Carved Wood Figure Head Wall Plaque / Panel. All age related wear present, ten holes around the outside.
