Empoli-Style Mid Century Optic Peacock Green Large Blown Glass Brandy Snifter or VaseThis quilted blue-ish green optic piece will make a wonderful addition to your collection. The quilted herringbone pattern is mesmerizing when swirled, causing an optical illusion. It is finished with a rippled rim. This is a gorgeous statement piece!Measures 10.5" tall, 4.25" in diameter at the opening/rim, 6" in diameter at its widest part, and 4.5" across at the base.The stem shows the way that it w...as hand-blown, where you can see how the glass is twisted, then expanded into the bowl of the snifter. The pontil has been smoothed out, but you can feel the bump with your finger in the center of the base. The glass is very clear and brilliant, with very few air bubbles in it. Very high quality.I believe it was made in Italy in the 1960's. Modern shape is classic Empoli design. Empoli has been making glass in Italy since the 14th Century. The region south of Florence is know for green colored glass because of iron deposits. Empoli glass has cleaner lines and more modern shapes than Venetian Glass.Excellent pre-owned vintage condition. No chips, cracks, cloudiness or irregularity in the pattern.
