This is an antique Sterling Silver 925 small dish, by Reed Barton (Marked), beautiful and elegant scalloped design. This is in beautiful antique condition, some normal surface marks from usage, and some wear normal in antique piece. Measurement are approx. 3" x 2.15" long x 0.41"tall, Total Weight: about 23.3 grams in my scale.This ...is marked Reed Barton.
Reed Reed & Barton story began in 1824, when Isaac Babbitt created a new metal alloy - "Britannia metal" - in his Taunton, Massachusetts pewter shop.Babbitt joined forces with craftsmen Henry G. Reed and Charles E. Barton to produce this innovative, higher quality pewter ware. When Babbitt encountered financial difficulties, Reed & Barton offered to take control and began manufacturing products under their own names.
